Long live the Iranian people’s struggle against hunger and dictatorship.

  • Categoría de la entrada:English / Iran

Since December 28, mass mobilizations have taken place across 90 cities in Iran, which
have spread to all capitals of the country’s 31 provinces.
The abrupt devaluation of the currency (Rial) reached 84% in one year, combined with
sanctions and the fall in oil exports (which went from 2 million to 300 thousand barrels in
just 8 years) generated an unbearable economic situation for workers and people in
general. The announcements of subsidies and tax relief are not enough to cover up the
corruption and squandering of wealth by the Iranian regime’s leadership. The combination
of these factors with the distrust that the regime is going to fundamentally change the
terrible living situation of the population, has generated an explosive situation.
Despite the efforts of the regime and its allies, to present these mobilizations as promoted
by the CIA and Israel, even the president of Iran himself recognized that the reason is the
economic situation, and that the demands are just and promised not to repress the
peaceful mobilizations.
Despite this, these mobilizations against hunger and the Ayatollahs dictatorship, led
mainly by young people («generation Z» in action again), have been violently repressed
causing already around 217 deaths (many of them minors) and thousands of arrests. The
government, in its attempt to isolate them, has cut off the Internet and phone service.
Repression does not occur only during demonstrations. Amnesty International has
denounced that: «Security forces have arbitrarily detained hundreds of protesters, some as
young as 14, during the dispersal of protests and in night-time raids on homes. Some of
these people were taken out of hospitals. The authorities have subjected many people to
enforced disappearance and incommunicado detention, which poses a risk of torture and
other ill-treatment. The authorities have already issued coerced «confessions» of detainees
in the media. On January 5, 2026, Tasnim News, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary
Guards, issued «confessions» from an 18-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, accusing
them of «leading riots.»
Despite this, the mobilizations are growing day by day in size and firmness. They have faced
repression, destroyed surveillance cameras, set up barricades and pickets in the heart of
Tehran. In several cities they have taken over and set fire to government buildings and even
the Al-Rasool mosque (one of the most important in Iran) demonstrating their anger and
fighting capacity.

Trump, Netanyahu and Reza Pahlavi, (last «Shah’s” son), are trying to take advantage
of the situation

These large mobilizations are not promoted by the CIA, as the Iranian regime denounces.
They are driven by hunger and hatred of that religious dictatorship. It is not the first time this
regime has faced massive mobilizations, nor is it the first time it has violently repressed
them. In 2022, another large mass movement confronted the dictatorship after the death of
Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman arrested by the «morality police» for not wearing the veil
correctly. That great movement was defeated with bloody repression.
What surely happens is that, as in all great mass expressions, imperialism puts its hand in
it. Lenin stated that, in the February 1917 revolution in Russia, British imperialism was
involved because it was in its interest that the Tsar be replaced by a more reliable bourgeois
sector. That did not mean that it ceased to be a workers’ revolution that revolutionaries had
to support.
Surely these large mobilizations must be infiltrated by CIA agents, the Mossad, by followers
of Reza Pahlavi, son of the former Shah of Iran, dethroned by the great revolution of 1979,
who is calling for US intervention.
Trump, like the British empire in 1917, is interested in the replacement of the ayatollahs by
a more reliable bourgeoisie, he wants to ride the wave of this great mobilization. Thus, we
see that those who support Netanyahu in the Gaza genocide, who did nothing in the face of
the 68,000 Palestinian deaths and who have just caused 100 deaths in Venezuela, now say
that they will intervene if Iranian repression causes deaths. No one should believe the
alleged and hypocritical defense of human rights by that murderer.
We must denounce these attempts by U.S. imperialism and its supporters. None of this
can stop revolutionaries from supporting the struggle of the Iranian masses for their living
conditions and against a bloody dictatorship.
It is striking that most leftist organizations are not speaking out in the face of these facts.
This is probably due to the fear that these mobilizations, of an insurrectionary nature, might
end up strengthening the counterrevolution. That danger exists, and it has been expressed
in many revolutionary processes, but we must keep in mind that the counterrevolution is
not only in Trump, but also in the Iranian dictatorship. This insurrectional process of the
masses objectively confronts the counterrevolution. Supporting it, helping its development
by denouncing the enemy forces that infiltrate it, is the only way to expect a positive
solution in this revolution-counterrevolution confrontation.
It is essential that the struggle of the Iranian people to free themselves from the dictatorial
and starving regime of the Ayatollahs, does not fall into the clutches of imperialism and monarchy. We must support the Iranian workers and people to take their destiny into their own hands, implementing a revolutionary socialist state to end hunger and plunder, and be a true ally of the struggles of the peoples of Asia and the whole world.

the dictatorship!
