Against sexist violence and the austerity measures that dismantle the genre policies. Eleven years after the first collective cry, on this day June 3rd, we are back to the streets!<\/p>\n

Eleven years after the surge of the Not One Less movement, the sexist violence goes on taking lives, while Javier Milei’s government deepens the dismantling \u2013 of the very few and with funding scarce \u2013 of the public policies, supposedly aimed to prevent and combat it. The feminicides don’t diminish; poverty attacks the working women with greater harshness and the CGT and CTAs leaders keep an intolerable passivity in front of an adjustment that also has a woman’s face, especially of a working woman. On this day June 3rd, we are back to the streets to demand justice for Agostina and for all sexist violence victims, to demand budget and genre policies. Demanding a general strike that unites a struggle against opression with all the struggles against economic adjustment.<\/p>\n

June 3rd: eleven years of struggle, an emergency that goes on<\/strong><\/p>\n

When hundreds of thousands of people filled the squares of the country on June 3rd 2015, it was clear that the sexist violence wasn’t a private problem nor a sum of isolated cases. It was a structural problematic that crosses all the society and, mainly, the working class.<\/p>\n

After eleven years, reality demonstrates that that historical mobilization could instigate the debate and achieve important rights, but couldn’t put an end to the genre violence.<\/p>\n

According to “Ahora Que S\u00ed Nos Ven” Observatory, between June 2015 and May 2026, more than 3.200 homicides were registered, related to genre violence, including feminicides, transfeminicides, transvesticides and related feminicides. Behind each number, there are interrupted projects of life, families destroyed and thousands of girls and boys that grew up without their mothers.<\/p>\n

Until now, in Milei’s government, feminicides sum 1 every 31\/33 hours, totalling 300 a year. The persistance and increasing of those crimes, reveal that the sexist violence remains one of the most brutal expression of the unequalities that cross Argentinian Society.<\/p>\n

The crime that moved the country<\/strong><\/p>\n

The disappearance and subsequent assassination of Agostina Vega, 14 years old only, caused a profound social commotion. Her name is added to a list that shouldn’t exist. As always happens in so many cases, the colective indignation highlights once again the failure of the answers of the State in front of the violence against women, girls and adolescents. They didn’t look for Agostina “because we thought she was with a boyfriend”; the assassin (Gabriel Barrelier) was released for a kidnapping crime and the case’s prosecutor, Ra\u00fal Garz\u00f3n, when became aware of the brutal feminicide, didn’t have a better idea than congratulate the sniffing dogs and avoid calling Agostina’s assassination and dismemberment a “feminicide”.<\/p>\n

Agostina should be planning her future. Today, she became a battle flag and a symbol of an intolerable reality. Her assassination highlights the urgent necessity to reinforce all the prevention mecanisms, protection and assistance to the victms of genre violence.<\/p>\n

Class adjustment: when the State criminalizes the working women<\/strong><\/p>\n

The government promotes projects that put the debate’s focus on the so calling “false reports”. The main promoter of this agenda is Senator Carolina Losada, who proposes changes in Article 245 of the Penal Code, to harden the penalties against who makes reports considered false. In the Chamber of Deputies there are also precedents in this way, promoted by liberating sectors.<\/p>\n

To the working women, the underlying problem is another. Far from having an outbreak of false reports, thousands of situations of violence never become denounced. The fear, the economic dependence, the judicial revictimization, the threats and the lack of the State’s answers continue to be permanent obstacles to thousands of us. The data speak by themselves: a report by the Genre Violence of the Public Ministry analised more than 8 thousand of criminal processes in 17 provinces between 2023 and 2025; the false reports represented 0,09% of the total and the false testimonies, 0,025%. This data refutes empirically the central premise of the draft law! So, what does this law look for? The project to harden the Article 245 of Penal Code doesn’t look for “judicial security”, but to discipline the female workforce. While the State cut shelters and judicial assistance, shifts the focus of the debate to the 0,09% of “false reports” in order to individualize a structural problem.<\/p>\n

The concrete objective is clear: to generate fear of denouncing and maintaining the economic dependence that binds thousands of working women to the home and to precarious work. It is the imposition that works as violence: the State, as an apparatus of the ruling class, uses criminal law to guarantee cheap labor and prevent the conflict from ceasing to be the responsibility of those who govern. Therefore, while harsher punishments for those who make false accusations are discussed, the real debate should focus on how to ensure effective access to justice, full protection and accompaniment for victims.<\/p>\n

While sexist violence remains a social emergency, the national government is moving forward with a systematic policy of dismantling the few and poorly funded programs designed to combat it. The closure of the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity, the emptying of specialized areas, budget cuts and the reduction of territorial teams are part of a political orientation that considers the rights conquered as an expendable expense. However, behind every program eliminated, there are real women who lose access to legal aid, psychological counseling, emergency subsidies and shelters in the face of situations of extreme violence.<\/p>\n

The government, in its “cultural battle”, banned the use of the term “feminicide” in all state bodies. It seeks, as Milei said, to “take weight” off the murders of women. What he omits is that, both in Agostina’s case and in the vast majority of feminicides, those responsible are men and the reason stems from a structure in which women are treated as objects: of consumption, possession or disposal. When the already scarce public policies are cut, vulnerability increases. When assistance devices are destroyed, the conditions that allow violence to continue are strengthened.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the adjustment is not an abstract economic discussion. It has direct consequences on the lives of millions of working women. They are the most extreme expression of a social structure crossed by economic, cultural and political inequalities. Women continue to endure higher levels of job insecurity, lower wages, overload of unpaid domestic and care tasks, and multiple forms of discrimination and violence. In popular neighborhoods, where the adjustment hits hardest, these inequalities deepen. Therefore, the fight against gender violence cannot be separated from the fight for work, housing, health, education and budget for public policies. It is also essential to advance in the material conditions that often prevent the exit from violent affective relationships: economic dependence, homelessness and the feminization of poverty.<\/p>\n

It is possible to reverse this situation<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is no single solution to a problem that has economic, social, cultural and political roots in the capitalist system. But there are concrete measures that could contribute to reduce gender-based violence:<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Declare a National Emergency in matters of violence against women.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure the necessary budget for prevention and care policies.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Equal pay for equal work, with control of workers’ organizations.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Committees of workers against gender-based violence in the workplace and study.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Effective right to legal, safe and free abortion and universal access to reproductive health.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reduction of the working day without reduction of wages, to distribute existing work and combat unemployment.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Full access to labor rights for all workers, including those who work in informality or domestic employment.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Massive development of public care services (cr\u00e8ches, canteens, public laundries), financed by the State and administered with the participation of workers and communities.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unrestricted defense of public education and health.<\/p>\n

It is necessary to make a political balance that covers the different governments that have succeeded each other since 2015 \u2014 Peronist, radical and, currently, libertarian \u2014 that have not been able to reverse a reality that continues to take lives. The achievements obtained in these years, which Milei’s government intends to eradicate, were not concessions from the governments or an initiative that emerged from the institutions. They were the product of the mobilization of millions of women, people of different identities, workers and youth, who managed to impose their demands through organization and struggle.<\/p>\n

We consider that it is necessary to build a revolutionary political tool, which organizes the revolt against this capitalist system that kills us every day; this violence cannot be dissociated from the material conditions in which millions of women live. The precariousness of work, low wages, homelessness, overload of care tasks and economic dependence are factors that aggravate situations of vulnerability and oppression. That is why the fight against sexist violence is not won in the courts. It is gained by transforming the material conditions of the majority of the working class. And we won this struggle together: working men and women against the same enemy, the capital that profits from precariousness; as long as the organization prioritizes profits over life, violence will continue to be functional to the system. Dividing ourselves is what the adjustment needs. Uniting is what hurts it.<\/p>\n

The debt of the CGT and the CTAs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sexist violence cannot be fought only by left-wing or feminist political organizations. It must also be a central cause of the organized labor movement. Because it is working and poor women who suffer the most from sexism and have fewer resources to defend themselves. They suffer a double oppression, because they are women and because they are workers; they are exploited and oppressed. We, women, are the majority in strategic sectors such as education, health, public administration and services. We are also the ones who bear the greatest burden of domestic work and unpaid care.<\/p>\n

The CGT and the CTAs, with their passivity, allow the economic adjustment of Milei and company to be applied. Faced with the Labor Reform, which is the strongest attack on the working class in decades, they suspended the strikes to go through the “judicial route”. The result? The Labor Reform is in full force and the CGT and the CTAs do not say a single word about it. The same or worse happens with women. Now they call for a peaceful march, without a strike, to “show” discontent with Milei’s government. A government that has dedicated itself to persecuting, repressing and applying austerity measures against workers, retirees, people with disabilities and women.<\/p>\n

Each layoff in the public and\/or private sector, each salary deterioration, has a different impact on us. Therefore, it is impossible to separate the struggle against sexist violence from the struggle against austerity. Union leaders have the responsibility to convene a true national plan of struggles that unifies all popular demands: wages, employment, education budget, public health, defense of pensions and policies against gender violence. And we, workers, must impose, from each place and with the anger of the cuts we have suffered, the necessary measures to make this happen. Firstly, grassroots assemblies and activists’ meetings. And if the accommodated and bribed union leaders do not move, we have to resume the path that has so often served the workers: to promote measures, to overtake the leaderships and to impose actions in our defense.<\/p>\n

On June 3, we must demand that the CGT and the CTAs break with passivity and call for a national strike, with mobilization, to confront all austerity policies.<\/p>\n

Feminicides are not isolated facts. They are the most extreme expression of a social structure crossed by the economic, cultural and political inequalities of capitalism. Economic dependence, job insecurity, the feminization of poverty and the housing crisis often act as concrete obstacles for thousands of women to get out of situations of violence.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the fight against sexist violence requires much more than judicial responses. It needs a budget, work, housing, education, public health and social rights. It needs to confront the material bases of the capitalist system that reproduce inequality, fighting relentlessly against the government and its pro-imperialist austerity and building a workers’ and socialist solution. Only then can we make room for a society in which sexism does not kill 1 woman a day and we have the social equality we deserve.<\/p>\n

On June 3rd, we will occupy the streets<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eleven years after Ni Una Menos, we continue to raise the same flags because the causes that gave rise to that mobilization remain in force. We return to the streets for Agostina. For those who are no longer with us. For those who continue to face situations of violence every day. For the workers who suffer the consequences of the adjustment. For the defense of each public policy conquered over years of struggle. Because sexist violence and austerity are not separate problems: they are part of the same reality that unloads the crisis on women and the popular sectors.<\/p>\n

Therefore, on June 3, we demand justice for Agostina and so many others, budget and organization.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We demand from the CGT and the CTAs a national strike and a coherent plan of struggle. Strike or resign!<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because we still lack many.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because adjustment is also violence.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because each right conquered was the result of collective mobilization.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Against Milei’s austerity and his pro-imperialist plan!<\/p>\n
